CD Importing Settings
The preferences menu is a very important aspect of any program, here you will be able to tweak and tune certain aspects of the program. First, we'll look at CD Importing and Playback. Rhapsody allows you to rip/copy music out of your CDs and into your Rhapsody library, and here is where you decide what kind of quality and file format you'd like for it to import at, in addition to a few other miscellaneous things. For best and easy to use results, stick to MP3 importing at 192kbps. 192kbps indicates the quality of the audio; you don't really need anything higher than this, as it just takes up more space on your hard-drive, and you need a very expensive audio set-up in order to tell the difference.

Burn Settings
In the CD Burning option, select the speed at which you'd prefer for Rhapsody to burn at. Furthermore, if you have two burners, you select the proper one you'd like for Rhapsody to use. You also have a few options to check and uncheck for when you're burning your CDs. If you aren't familiar with the term, normalizing is a process that prevents uneven volume between the songs - normalizing the sound so that each song is of the same volume level. The 'Test CD' feature should save you throwing away a CD incase an error is detected. If for, whatever reason, your mix cannot be burned, the program will tell you.

Media Type Settings
Now, to return back to file associations that I had mentioned very early on in the guide. The reason I told you to uncheck all of them is so that you get used to using Rhapsody before allowing it to open all of your media files. If you'd prefer that Rhapsody not act as your primary media player, skip this section. If you wish to make it your primary player, select "Media Types" from the Preferences menu and check off what formats you'd like Rhapsody to associate with. Simple, isn't it?

Watched Folders
Finally, the "Watched Folders" option may be of some use to a number of you. These are the three folders from which Rhapsody will look for audio, photos, and videos. What you have in these folders is what will be displayed when you select "My Library" from the "Sources" panel on the left. In your library you will see three tabs designated for Music, Photos, and Videos. To alter the folder source for each designation use the Watched Folders feature and choose the folders you'd like to use, or not use, as well as controlling the automatic update feature.
